Brianna Simmons, travel blogger behind Casual Travelist:

PX is the place to go for creative cocktails in Old Town Alexandria, but you won’t find it by looking for a neon sign or a noisy crowd. A blue light outside the door denotes the location for those in the know, a knock of the door brings a raven haired hostess who leads you upstairs to the secret speakeasy. Seating only 38, either in a candlelit lounge or at the bar where you can observe mixologist Todd Thrasher whip up one of his innovative elixers, the vibe here is intimate with a focus on cocktails and conversation. Handmade bitters and syrups are artfully mixed with premium spirits to craft libations with quirky names like ‘The Start to a Better Life’. The one thing I’m sure of is that PX will certainly be the start of a better night.

Alix, one half of the Alexandria-based bloggers behind In a DC Minute:

Brabo is a culinary staple on King Street, though we find ourselves frequenting the bar for a quick cocktail or lounging on their patio with a glass of wine throughout the summer. However, it is their classic Daiquiri that has jumped to the top of the list of our favorite cocktails in all of Alexandria. It helps when you ask for the best cocktail they make, and they quickly respond with this drink. Not too sweet, not too strong, but  mixed to perfection.

Scott, one half of the Alexandria-based bloggers behind In a DC Minute:

The Magnolia’s Old Fashioned with pineapple syrup easily makes the list of best cocktails in Alexandria. The Palm Lounge is a perfect 2nd floor oasis in the heart of Old Town, and the ambiance is suited for an intimate date night or an evening catching up with a small group of friends. Relax on a leather couch or perch on a stool, and whatever you feel like having can be mixed by one of the experts behind the bar.

Maurisa Potts, Alexandria resident and founder of Spotted MP Marketing & Public Relations:

The “Stardust” cocktail at Virtue Feed & Grain uses Tito’s vodka, one of the smoothest vodkas out there and is my personal favorite. The only type of vodka I will drink, plus its also gluten free as some vodkas are not and I have a gluten allergy. The drink is so light and refreshing and I love the flavor burst with the blackberries and raspberries. It’s no surprise to Virtue Feed & Grain that it’s my favorite place to hangout to either drink or dine. I have selected the location for many family celebrations, business outings, and birthday gatherings. I just love the design, decor and historic architecture of the place. It’s certainly my “Cheers!”

Igda Warner, Alexandria resident and Instagram user @velogirl22:

One of my favorite places to enjoy a drink is Port City Brewing Company. I love the crowd, the beer is good and they always have a fun event such as yoga and running events on some days. And, of course, they sometimes have the Rocklands BBQ food truck outside!
