Aldo’s Italian Kitchen

A freshly baked Margherita pizza on a metal tray, topped with melted mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, and thinly sliced fresh basil leaves, with a few burnt spots on the golden-brown crust.
Close-up of a sandwich cut in half, filled with layers of lettuce, sliced deli meats, cheese, and yellow bell peppers on crusty bread. A blurred sprig of herbs is in the background.
Outdoor patio with metal tables and chairs, some shaded by green umbrellas, outside a building entrance with glass doors. Potted plants and signs are visible near the door and on the brick-paved terrace.

Unassuming hideaway serving pizza and homestyle Italian plates in cheery surrounds, Aldo’s Italian Kitchen provides authentic Italian without having to travel all the way to Italy to get it.

Owner, Emanuele Cognetti, was born near the northern Italian city of Parma; famous for its Parmesan cheese and Parma ham. His grandfather, Endrea Cognetti, owned a deli and a dairy farm and employed his sons, including Cognetti’s father, Aldo Cognetti. As a little boy, Emanuele would participate in the family business by rolling wheels of cheese, slicing the cold cuts and making the prosciutto and salami.

Surrounded by Italian food all his life he now brings Italy to Alexandria by way of Aldo’s Italian Kitchen – where you’ll always find fresh Parmesan cheese.
