The King Street Trolley is a free, convenient way to travel along historic King Street in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, with stops every two to three blocks between the King Street–Old Town Metrorail station and City Hall/Market Square. It connects visitors to more than 200 shops, restaurants and attractions along the route and is the easiest way to explore Old Town without a car.

Important Service Notice
The bus/trolley stop at N Fairfax St. & King St. will be moved several times during renovation work on Market Square, starting in Spring 2026. This bus stop will move around the corner to 302 King St. (right across from Coldwell Banker Realty). Visit dashbus.com/trolley for the latest updates.

The King Street Trolley travels east and west along King Street between the King St-Old Town Metrorail station and City Hall/Market Square, providing easy access to sites across Old Town. BEFORE YOU BOARD
The King Street Trolley is free to ride. You don’t need a ticket, pass or SmarTrip card. Look for designated trolley stop signs along King Street, spaced every two to three blocks. Simply wait at the nearest stop and board when the trolley arrives. When you’re ready to exit, pull the cord to signal your stop and the driver will stop at the nearest designated location. Strollers must be folded before boarding. Smoking, eating and drinking are not permitted on the trolley. Accessibility
The King Street Trolley is equipped with wheelchair ramps, bike racks and automated stop announcements. Bike racks are located on the front of the trolley and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Strollers must be folded before boarding.
