Potomac Riverboat Company by Hornblower offers a 25-minute direct water taxi from Old Town to The Wharf development in D.C., with service seven days a week throughout the day. Skip the traffic into the city and stroll among the famous cherry blossoms. From the dock at The Wharf, stroll (or bikeshare) 10 minutes to the cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin.

Beginning March 21, 2020, throughout peak cherry blossom season
Traverse the Potomac River from Old Town Alexandria and cruise past the D.C. cherry blossoms on the Washington Monuments Cruise by Potomac Riverboat Company by Hornblower. View and hear the history of the iconic monuments, memorials and bridges as the D.C. region awakens to spring. See beautiful cherry blossom trees as you glide past Hains Point and head onward to Georgetown. The Saturday and Sunday cruise is 45 minutes one-way and approximately 90 minutes round-trip.

Pedego Electric Bikes
March 20 to April 12, 2020, or as long as the cherry blossoms are in bloom
Pedego Electric Bikes let riders zip among the Yoshino cherry trees with their seasonal Cherry Blossom Rides. For two to three hours, participants glide from Old Town to the cherry blossoms, including a spin through Hains Point. With the electric bikes, riders of wide-ranging ages and abilities can enjoy the hours-long ride and breathtaking surroundings with ease.

For more pedaling options, rent a two-wheeler at Unlimited Biking’s (formerly Bike and Roll) Old Town location in Wales Alley, near King Street and the waterfront, and take the Mount Vernon Trail to the Tidal Basin. Or, take the Metro from King St-Old Town to L’Enfant Plaza and join the official bike tour of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Unlimited Biking’s two-hour Blossoms by Bike guided ride, which is offered at Unlimited Biking’s National Mall location with advanced reservation.
Metro to Blooms and Bus Tours from Alexandria
You can also get to the cherry blossoms from Alexandria via D.C.’s Metrorail system. If taking Metrorail, L’Enfant Plaza Metro and Smithsonian Metro are the stops closest to the Tidal Basin.
