The nation’s longest-operating farmers’ market in one place, Old Town Farmers Market, has temporarily moved next door to the courtyard at Tavern Square and the 100 block of North Royal Street. The new location allows the market to keep operating during renovations to City Hall and Market Square. During market hours, visitors can find free parking at the Courthouse Square Garage (111 South Pitt Street) and Tavern Square Garage (418 Cameron Street). Alexandria City Hall Renovations

Beginning in Early 2026, the City of Alexandria’s City Hall Renovation Project, will impact Alexandria City Hall & Market Square, for the next two to three years. This project will impact the surrounding streets of North Royal, North Fairfax, King Street, and Cameron Streets, altering travel flow, sidewalk access, bus stops, parking, and more.

Farmers Market Parking
FREE parking for visitors of the Old Town Farmers Market can be found at the Courthouse Square Garage (111 South Pitt Street) and Tavern Square Garage (418 Cameron Street) during market hours. Part of what makes Alexandria easy to access is its many parking locations just steps away from independent restaurants, shops, and hotels. The construction project will impact the street parking surrounding City Hall, like North Royal, North Fairfax, and Cameron Streets. Additionally, the parking structure at City Hall will be closed during the project. However, there are alternate parking lots and garages are available for your convenience. Public Transportation Stops
King Street Trolley & DASH Bus
If you are interested in exploring Alexandria by public transportation, consider hopping on the free King Street Trolley or the free DASH bus, which share a route along King Street. During the City Hall renovation project, please note that the shared stop at N. Fairfax St. & King St. will be moved several times for safety purposes. In spring of 2026, it will be located near 302 King St., across from Coldwell Banker Realty. More information on future moves to the bus and trolley stop will be shared through DASH.
Walking Tour Stops

Motorcoach Loading Zone
The motorcoach loading zone has been temporarily moved one block away to 401 King Street. Motorcoaches must load and unload at designated locations only.
