Go behind-the-scenes of filming in Alexandria

Wonder Woman 1984 was filmed in part in Alexandria, Virginia, in June and July of 2018, with most local filming taking place inside Landmark Mall in Alexandria’s West End. Warner Bros.’ much-anticipated sequel stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and more, jumping ahead some seven decades in time from 2017’s Wonder Woman. Set designers transformed Landmark Mall’s interior atrium into a bustling 1980s shopping mall in its neon heyday, with many classic storefronts making memorable cameos.

The iconic Virginia is for Lovers brand was also on the big screen, as part of a seven-foot-tall drum prop emblazoned with the Virginia is for Lovers logo on screen during a scene filmed at the Landmark Mall in Alexandria. Check out a special featurette video below highlighting director Patty Jenkins’ and star Gal Gadot’s experience visiting and filming in Virginia, and take our self-guided stroll through Old Town’s TV and movie sites to learn more about Alexandria’s cinematic connections.
