Port City Brewing

In 2011, Bill Butcher, a former fine wine sales manager, and his wife, Karen Butcher, an intellectual property attorney, opened Port City Brewing Company because they felt the area needed higher-quality, locally produced craft beer. Little did they know the brewery would become one of the longest operating in the Washington, D.C. region, a staple beloved by locals and a destination for visitors. Port City Brewing Co. offers award-winning craft beer; they are known for seasonal, occasional, and specialty beers, as well as regular tastings, tours, and events at their state-of-the-art facility in the historic Port City of Alexandria, Virginia. “We like our hometown so much that we named the brewery in its honor!” says founder Bill Butcher. When the company opened its doors in February 2011, it was the first production inside the Beltway since the roads’ construction in 1961. Being located in Alexandria makes it accessible to beer drinkers in Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland.

For Alexandrians, Port City Brewing Co. is a place where moments are made, and communities gather for evenings filled with bubbling seasonal beers, exciting conversations under shaded picnic tables, outdoor games, and mouth-watering Mexican food from their partner La Tingeria.
