Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden

The Lee-Fendall House is a family home, located in Old Town, Alexandria. Since its construction in 1785, the house has served as home to 37 members of the Lee family (1785-1903), hundreds of Union soldiers (1863-1865), the prominent Downham family (1903-1937) and powerful labor leader John L. Lewis (1937-1969). Guided by its 1852 inventory, the house is interpreted as a Lee home of the 1850-1870 period.

An award-winning half-acre garden complements the Lee-Fendall House, including a rose garden, herb garden, English boxwoods and more.

Private tours of the museum are available for groups of ten adults or more. Advance reservations are required at least two weeks prior to the requested tour date for all groups.
