African American Hall of Fame

  • Charles Houston Recreation Center 901 Wythe Street Alexandria, Virginia
A white helmet hangs on a wall above a large African American Hall of Fame display, surrounded by framed photos, posters, and memorabilia.

The African American Hall of Fame is a visually-stimulating account of the movers and shakers who made Alexandria the city it is today.

Short-form biographies juxtapose artifacts, together telling the story of Alexandria’s African American leaders in education, medicine, law, business, activism, music, sports, and more.

You can visit the exhibit during the week from 9 am to 9 pm, on Saturdays from 9 am to 6 pm, and on Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm.
