Visit Alexandria is the nonprofit tourism marketing organization for Alexandria, Virginia, promoting the city as a premier destination for leisure and business travel. The organization has 450 members, a $5 million budget and 15 employees. Visit Alexandria has built a strong staff and key partnerships with peer organizations and City departments to accomplish its mission. It is guided by a board of 15, representing a diverse range of industry sectors, expertise, race, age, gender and neighborhood.

Director of Sales

The Director of Sales enhances Alexandria’s position in the competitive tourism landscape by developing and executing sales strategies to capture both group meetings and travel trade opportunities. Our sales team consists of the Director plus two sales managers who report to the Director. The team collectively covers key vertical markets, including association, corporate, government, sports and tour & travel. The team cultivates key industry relationships, providing rapid response to inbound leads, prospecting in high potential markets, and convening select high value events with customer groups. In addition to leading the Sales department, the Director of Sales serves on Visit Alexandria’s leadership team, working closely with the CEO and peer department leaders (Marketing, Communications, Membership and Operations) to help set goals, shape strategy, manage budget, and report results.

Visitor Services Assistant Manager

The Visitor Services Assistant Manager leads the daily operations of the Alexandria Visitor Center and ensures the delivery of exceptional hospitality to every guest. This role manages frontline team members, oversees scheduling, merchandising, and financial transactions, and works closely with Visit Alexandria members to design engaging visitor experiences. The Manager is responsible for collecting and analyzing visitor data, entering data into the CRM system, and sharing feedback to enhance both the visitor and member experience. By combining operational oversight with creativity and community engagement, the Visitor Services Assistant Manager strengthens Alexandria’s reputation as a welcoming, vibrant, and dynamic destination
