Visit Alexandria is the nonprofit tourism marketing organization for Alexandria, Virginia, promoting the city as a premier destination for leisure and business travel. The organization has 450 members, a $5 million budget and 15 employees. Visit Alexandria has built a strong staff and key partnerships with peer organizations and City departments to accomplish its mission. It is guided by a board of 15, representing a diverse range of industry sectors, expertise, race, age, gender and neighborhood.

Senior Vice President, Operations & Finance

Visit Alexandria is seeking a seasoned operations and finance professional with an entrepreneurial ethos, a passion for collaboration, and strong financial acumen to drive organizational effectiveness. As part of the leadership team, the SVP, Operations and Finance is responsible for strengthening Visit Alexandria’s financial, operations, and human resource management. This position directly supervises two team members, providing leadership and direction, including for the organization’s Membership and Visitor Services team. This position reports to the President & CEO.

Director of Communications

A strategic leader in Visit Alexandria’s award-winning Marketing & Communications (MarComm) Department, the Director of Communications develops and leads communications and content strategies and serves as a project manager across numerous organization-wide initiatives. Works closely with members of the MarComm team and the senior leadership team, and supports an integrated approach across paid, earned and owned channels. Manages communications team members and external media relations and visitor guide agency. Serves as day-to-day media relations and communications strategy lead. Creates messaging and targeting strategies to communicate key messages to our key audiences of leisure visitors, meeting and event planners, conference attendees, and travel trade – domestically and internationally.

Destination Sales Manager

Visit Alexandria is seeking a dynamic and results-driven destination sales professional with a passion for business development, relationship building and teamwork to attract and service group sales in Alexandria’s vibrant market. The Destination Sales Manager enhances Alexandria’s position in the competitive tourism landscape by capturing both group meetings and travel trade opportunities for Alexandria. Our Destination Sales team accomplish this goal by cultivating leads and connecting Visit Alexandria members (hotels, restaurants, activities, and transportation) with meeting and group planners and the travel trade. The Sales team consists of a director, two sales managers, and a supporting sales coordinator. The team collectively covers key vertical markets, including association, corporate, S.M.E.R.F. (social, military, education, religious, fraternal), government, sports, and tour & travel. The team cultivates key industry relationships, providing rapid response to inbound leads, prospecting in high-potential markets, and convening select high-value events with customer groups.
