WMPA YOUTH ORCHESTRA – Concert – FREE
Enjoy the first concert of the school term with these two WMPA youth orchestras on a Saturday afternoon. The Washington Metropolitan Youth Orchestra is a premier ensemble of students (9th-12th grade) focusing on musical excellence by engaging themselves and those around them by sharing beautiful and transformational music. Music Director Alberto Rodriguez enthusiastically educates and conducts. The younger Concert Orchestra (WMCO) prepares its musicians (6th -9th grade) for lifelong musical enjoyment and dedication, aiming to educate them about technique, types of music, intonation, and rhythm. Music Director Martin Garfield-Levine leads the WMCO bringing them awareness of different cultures and instrumentations.
The program offers a variety of music:
HOFFMEISTER Viola Concerto, Mvt. I – Isaiah Reed, soloist
SEITZ Viola Concerto, Mvt. I – Tate Commission, soloist
WARLOCK – Capriol Suite
DVOŘÁK – Slavonic Dance in C – Furiant
Come and support these young musicians! Show your appreciation for their enthusiasm for the world of music and live performance.
