Tall Ship Providence

Old Town Alexandria is home to the Tall Ship Providence, the first permanent tall ship to take up residence in the region. The Providence is a reproduction of the first ship authorized to serve in the Continental Navy and provides a living link to our rich maritime, naval, and Revolutionary history.

Tall Ship Providence is a venue unlike any other in the Washington area.  Our ship’s historically accurate detailing, expansive sails, and gleaming hardwoods set against the back-drop of the Potomac river and Washington DC skyline will inspire and excite your guests.  When you book a charter on Tall Ship Providence, our Events Manager will coordinate all your event details to create a unique and memorable experience.

Charter the Ship

The ship is available to rent for three-hour charter sails on the Potomac for parties of up to 35 people.  For catering aboard the ship, we have partnered with select restaurants in Old Town Alexandria, giving you a variety of menu options to choose from to create the perfect event. 

Rent the Captain’s Cabin

For smaller gatherings of 8 people or fewer, the Captain’s Cabin is perfect for hosting a catered dinner.  This intimate setting is just the place for a memorable celebration or corporate dinner, with chef crafted, seasonally-driven menus and wine pairings.  Package pricing is available upon request.
