Nearly all of Alexandria’s attractions and experiences are ready for you to visit now, but a few continue to be closed or operate with limited hours. See below for more information. The Alexandria Visitor Center at 221 King Street in Old Town is open 7 days a week (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day). Masks are optional inside the Visitor Center.

- Attractions, Museums, and Performing Arts Venues: Most are open but a few remain closed or with limited hours. See below for details.
- Parks and Trails: Open
- Tours: Open.
- Farmers’ Markets: Open.
- Meetings, Gatherings, and Capacity Restrictions: There are no state or local restrictions on capacity or physical distancing at this time. Some businesses and venues may continue to impose their own limitations or mask requirements.

Museums
Masks are optional at the below museums unless otherwise indicated.
- George Washington’s Mount Vernon: Now open.
- Alexandria Archaeology Museum: Now open Wed-Sun.
- Alexandria Black History Museum: Closed for renovations.
- Alexandria’s History Museum at The Lyceum: Now open Thu-Sun.
- Athenaeum: Now open Thu-Sun.
- Carlyle House: Now open Thu-Tue. (Masks requested)
- Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site: Now open Thu-Sun.
- Freedom House: Now open Thu-Mon.
- Friendship Firehouse Museum: Closed, except on July 16 and August 11.
- Gadsby’s Tavern Museum: Now open Thu-Tue (closed Wednesdays).
- Lee-Fendall House: Open Wed-Sun (Masks required for indoor tours and programs).
- National Inventors Hall of Fame: Open Mon-Fri, and first Saturday of every month.
- Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum: Now open Wed-Mon (closed Tuesdays).

- Cameron Run Regional Park: Attractions open daily. Great Waves Waterpark open daily starting June 10.

- George Washington Masonic National Memorial: Open for tours Fri-Sun. Advance online reservations required.
- Tall Ship Providence: Visiting the Wharf in DC for most of 2022. Select appearances on Old Town Waterfront this summer before returning to Alexandria permanently in November 2022.

- City Cruises anchored by Hornblower: Water taxis running Wed-Sun and tours on Sat-Sun.

Transportation
- King Street Trolley: Operating 11 AM to 11 PM daily from King St./Old Town Metro Station to Fairfax Street.
- WMATA Metrorail (“Metro”): Operating with some reduction in frequency. Masks optional. From September 10 to October 22, 2022 there will be no Metrorail service south of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Learn more on WMATA.com.
- DASH: Alexandria’s bus system: All DASH buses are now FREE and operating normally.
- Amtrak: Operating and connecting Alexandria with the northeast corridor, the southeast, and beyond.
Events
Washington, D.C. Attractions
- Most DC attractions including the Smithsonian Museums, the Washington Monument, and the National Zoo are open. The National Air and Space Museum is closed for renovations through fall 2022. Masks and proof of vaccination may be required at some indoor locations in Washington, DC. See the latest information, courtesy of Destination DC.
METRORAIL SERVICE NOTICE
Starting Sept. 10 through Nov. 5, 2022, there will be no Metrorail service south of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport due to ongoing construction. Free shuttles will be available to operating stations.
