In Alexandria, Virginia, located just minutes from Washington, D.C. and with four Metro stations, a night on the town means everything from live jazz to country line dancing. Catch live performances most nights of the week (and karaoke on Sundays!) at The Light Horse Restaurant, where locals gather for music, pool and shuffleboard, or The Birchmere, where music legends from Johnny Cash to Esperanza Spalding have performed in an intimate setting.

In Old Town, you’ll find dozens of restaurants in a walkable setting with live music, from Blackwall Hitch on the Potomac River waterfront to Irish restaurant Daniel O’Connells. 219 Restaurant’s Basin Street Lounge has live jazz and blues music every Friday and Saturday night while its Bayou Room has a DJ and dancing.
