Alexandria, it’s too good to share…

You’re about to uncover Alexandria, Virginia, and all the city’s best kept travel secrets.

Now you’re probably asking: Why is Alexandria “too good to share?” You see, Alexandria, has always been a hidden gem just across the river from Washington, D.C., but the secret’s getting out — especially now that we’ve been recognized by Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Southern Living and more as a top destination in our own right.

Trust us, once you get here, you’re going to want to keep Alexandria to yourself. It’s just not the same once everybody is in on it, right? Read on to discover why.

SO WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL?

Well, we’re most famous for our walkable waterfront downtown:  Old Town Alexandria, one of the nation’s earliest designated historic districts, featuring more than 200 independent boutiques and restaurants plus intimate museums along the King Street mile. Down by the water, you can raise a glass at riverside restaurants, check out waterfront art experiences, boat cruises and scenic spaces.

Established in 1749, the city brims with historic architecture and more than 270 years of the American story, ranging from the tavern where five of the U.S.’s earliest presidents stayed to the site of one of the nation’s first Civil Rights sit-ins.

Plus, there’s even more to discover in the city’s other neighborhoods. No matter which way you wander, there’s no shortage of picturesque spots to share on Instagram (if you insist on letting the cat out of the bag).

Alexandria is easy to get to and get around. And while we have plenty to fill your vacation itinerary, sure, you can hop over to D.C.’s national monuments and Smithsonian museums,George Washington’s Mount Vernon and National Harbor. They’re just minutes away by car, water taxi or Metrorail.

So find the perfect place to lay your head and start planning. Once you get home from your Alexandria trip, we know you’re going to want to tell everyone about it, but don’t let it get out of hand! This place is too good to share.
