Tour Washington’s Distillery & Gristmill

Visit the fully-functioning reconstructions of George Washington’s commercial ventures, his distillery and gristmill. Open for tours on weekends, April through October. Admission is included in the Mount Vernon ground pass.

During the tour, see the water-powered millstones that still grind flour and cornmeal today, and learn how we make George Washington’s whiskey.

George Washington’s Distillery & Gristmill is located 2.7 miles from the main estate entrance. Guests may arrive directly at the facility and free parking is available on-site.

Pancake flour, grits, and cornmeal that were ground at the gristmill are available to purchase on-site. George Washington’s whiskey and other distilled spirits are also available for purchase.
