Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna

The combined choirs of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Fairlington United Methodist Church present Morten Lauridsen’s “Lux Aeterna,” conducted by Dr. R. Benjamin Hutchens and accompanied by the Monticello Chamber Orchestra. This five-movement piece composed in response to the illness and death of Lauridsen’s mother. He says, “I found great personal comfort and solace in setting to music these timeless and wondrous words about Light, a universal symbol of illumination at all levels – spiritual, artistic, and intellectual.”
