Carlyle House: “Discovery Through Trash” Video Series

Tune in as Carlyle House's resident educator leads a brand-new "Discovery Through Trash" video series, available on Carlyle House's social media channels. Based on the historic site's program for school groups, each video will reveal fragments of a centuries-old artifact found in the house's trash pit. Viewers of all ages can pause the video, try to guess the whole artifact, then wait to be surprised as a box is lifted to reveal the object in its entirety. Carlyle House is a Georgian manor house built in 1753 for merchant and city founder John Carlyle. Here, five royal governors and General Braddock met to discuss funding for the French and Indian War. The story of Carlyle House parallels the early history of Alexandria, colonial Virginia and America.
